There is a chance that all of this is a dream. My dream. Our dreams. A domination of the reality we’ve come to call life. Contentious at best and unfathomable at worst. Trying to understand where and why. Trying to get myself to recognize that the way out of this is through it. And that’s what we have to deal with for the foreseeable future. There is a lot to be done, a lot to be considered. The political system that doesn’t work, laden with people who are kissing the feet of a man who can’t see his own toes in the first place. A terrible outcome for many of the people living in these scenarios, all across the globe. This is a change for a lot more of the world than we imagined and I am curious to see how long it lasts. I am waiting to see what the people who have been elected to power do with all this authority. All this money. All this demise and destruction. What folds in on itself are the institutions that support regular people. 

We see you. We see you where you are, we see the damage you’re causing and the insidious actions you’re taking against the people. And we will not sit back and let you take away from us what is ours. These structures, these institutions, they may fall in the ways that they were. Designed for the select few. But we will not wait for you to tell us how life is going to look. There will not be domination from above. There will be resistance. There will be fights. There will be repercussions for your actions and you will pay with your time. With your money. With everything that you have prioritized (yourself). There will be more to this than you think — a stronger people will be coming from the corners of the world, from the country, and making it very clear that we don’t want you. We stand against everything you stand for. 

All of this is a chance to move closer to the world we know and want. All of this is a great undoing, an erosion of that which was built for equality. So that we can imagine a new life. So that we can imagine a world that is better for the many instead of the few. This might have been the only way to get there, watching all of it burn so that we can rebuild. And that’s what is happening. This is what we’re seeing. And we won’t stop watching. It’s no longer in the darkness. It will not be a reformation but a transformation. A movement away from the worst parts of what had been built on the backs of people who never benefitted from it in the first place. The system is going to shift in big ways. And this is what we have to recognize. This is what we have to be willing to accept. That there is going to be pain and suffering while we fight against the oppression. There is going to be a need to get out from behind our computer screens, out from behind the scrolling, and act for what we believe in. Learning to take care of ourselves, of each other, and keep going. Persevering past all the division to get closer to what we need to see, what we need to know. What we have thought is true to recognize what matters most in our lives, in our understandings. This is the call for action, for the change of a life that needs to be made. A change of lifestyle. 

We are the ones we have been waiting for. This is our time, and the time is now.
